Valentine’s Day Fudgey Brownies

Valentine’s Day Fudgey Brownies

February 14, 2019

These brownies are fudgey, dense, and oh-so-chocolatey with a crackly crisp top. Perfect for galentines, valentines, or as an indulgence on any other day.

Ingredients:

1 cup of melted unsalted butter

2 1/4 cups of white granulated sugar

4 large eggs at room temperature

2 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt

Recipe:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a 9x13 baking pan with foil with enough foil to hang over the edges so you can easily lift out the brownies once they are done. Spray the oil with non stick cooking spray or grease with unsalted butter. Set aside.
  2. In a standing mixer large mixing bowl, combine the sugar and melted butter and mix on medium speed until well combined. Mix in the eggs one by one and then mix in the vanilla extract on low speed until well combined.
  3. In another large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Sift in the dry mixture into the standing mixer mixing bowl mixture and mix in until just combined. I sifted in 1/3 of the dry mixture at a time and stopped in between each 1/3 to scrape down the sides of the bowl to make sure everything was well mixed.
  4. Pour the batter into prepped baking pan and spread batter evenly into one layer. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 25 minutes or until toothpick comes relatively clean with a few crumbs attached.
  5. Let brownies cool, lift foil out of pan, then slice.
  6. Optional: For Valentine’s Day I used heart shaped cookie cutters to cut the brownies into cute hearts. Press firmly into the brownies with cookie cutters, lift cookie cutter up, then gently press the brownie out of the cookie cutter with fingers. Start at the middle then press the edges out if needed. Then I cut the rest of the brownie leftovers into squares for extra snacking!
